- A bonnet macaque greeted us at the gate to Gingee Fort.
-
- This photo was taken from the seven-story marriage hall.
-
- The Gingee Fort complex is maintained by the Archaeological Department. After it was taken by the British, it didn’t see any further use, and it was declared a national monument in 1921.
-
- The fort complex included a sacred lake, Aanaikulam.
-
- Fun fact: The bonnet macaque is the only known species of monkey to commit infanticide.
